Odor management is where the PuraMax 2 genuinely overperforms for its price. Three layers work together: the sealed waste drawer traps odors physically, the included N50 2.0 Pet Odor Eliminator uses activated carbon to neutralize ammonia (PETKIT claims ≥98% ammonia reduction), and the cylinder's seamless ShieldBase prevents urine from seeping into crevices where smells linger.

The N50 2.0 lasts about a month before needing replacement, and refills are a modest recurring cost. Note that this basic Amazon bundle is NOT compatible with PETKIT's K3 Air Purifier Smart Spray — that's a separate accessory available on the PuraMax 2 'with odor spray' variant sold on PETKIT's own site. Setup is refreshingly simple. The PetSafe ScoopFree is cheaper upfront but uses a rake system with proprietary crystal litter trays that cost $20+ every 2–3 weeks — ongoing costs add up fast.
